About Us

WHO WE ARE

Yoruba Cultural Association of Edmonton was formally convened on September 10, 2017. The first meeting was held at the residence of one of our members, Madam Rachael Adedijo. The meeting came as a result of an agreement by like-minded Yorubas that saw the need for Yorubas in Edmonton area to come together to promote unity among our ethnic group.

Right from the start, it was agreed that the Association will be free from all religious shades as the 21st century Yoruba people are diverse and polytheistic.

We believe that by coming together, we can unleash the power in numbers and synergy to advance the lot of individual Yorubas in this land.

We also believe that by coming together, Yorubas in diaspora will be able to maintain our culture as it affords our children the opportunity to interact with the community, thereby gaining knowledge about our motherland.

We welcome every member of this Association. It is our desire that together, we shall build a strong cultural association that will be a force to be reckoned with, not only in Edmonton but throughout Canada.
